Photographer Bio – J.C. Figueroa
I’ve been an avid scuba diver for over 20 years, working as a divemaster and assistant instructor, but my real passion lies in capturing the underwater world through photography. There’s something uniquely challenging—and deeply rewarding—about trying to photograph life below the surface. Light behaves differently, colors disappear with depth, and nothing ever stays still. But that’s exactly what I love about it.
Through my images, I try to share a part of the world that most people never get to see. Whether it's the vibrant reefs of Cozumel, the sponge-laden walls of Roatán and Little Cayman, the iconic seascapes of the Galápagos, or the cool, shadowy waters of the Pacific Northwest, each dive offers a new perspective and a new story waiting to be told. I've been fortunate to explore some extraordinary places, and I hope to continue doing so well into my old age—camera in hand and curiosity intact.
When I’m not in the water, I’m a tech industry worker bee, a husband, a dad, and recently, a proud grandfather. More than anything, I hope these photographs invite you to slow down and appreciate the beauty, complexity, and quiet resilience of the underwater world.
